The Thunderbirds are making a comeback as the season's end nears.

Half Hollow Hills High School East defeated Walt Whitman on February 3.

RJ Nitti scored 21 points and had 14 rebounds to lead Hills East 48-35 over Walt Whitman.

The varsity boys team, coached by Peter Basel, has won three out of its last four games, bringing their League II record to 4-7. If the T-birds keep it up, they could swoop in to steal a spot in the Suffolk County playoffs. Hills East will have to win its last three games to do so.

Hills East will face off against Central Islip on Tuesday, February 7 at 4:15 on the home court.
