Tractor-Trailer Overturns in Melville Crash
Firefighters rescued the driver trapped inside the truck Tuesday morning.
Firefighters rescued the driver of a tractor-trailer after the truck overturned in Melville Tuesday morning.
According to fire officials, a truck carrying consumer electronics in a 40-foot cargo container was involved in a crash, causing the truck to overturn, on Route 110 near the south service road of the Long Island Expressway at 10:15 a.m.
The Melville Fire Department responded to the scene and used heavy rescue tools to extricate the driver by cutting the cab and windshield of the truck, fire officials say.

The driver was transported to Plainview Hospital by the Melville FD Rescue Squad to be treated for minor injuries.
Approximately 15 fire/rescue personnel were on the scene with an engine, heavy rescue truck and ambulance, which were under the direction of chief Jason Bernfeld and third assistant chief David Kaplan.
