Victim Airlifted to Hospital After Vehicles Collide With Box Truck

One person was airlifted to the hospital after a motor vehicle crash in Dix Hills on Monday, March 30.

The Dix Hills Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a box truck and three cars on Commack Road and Pine Hill Lane around 3:35 p.m.

Firefighters had to use “Jaws of Life” to remove a door on one of the vehicles, fire officials said.

One person was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital by Suffolk Police medevac helicopter. Two other victims were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital by the Dix Hills Rescue Squad, according to authorities.

About 20 firefighters and rescue personnel responded to the scene with two heavy rescue trucks, a pumper and three ambulances, according to fire officials. These responders were under the command of Captain Karl Krage.

The Greenlawn Fire Department assisted with a standby by ambulance during the incident, authorities said.
