EAST HARLEM, NY — Another teenager has been arrested in connection with last week's fatal shooting of 14-year-old Justin Streeter on an East Harlem street corner, police said.

An unidentified 17-year-old was arrested Monday and charged with murder, attempted murder, assault and criminal use of a firearm in connection with the July 19 slaying, police said.

Streeter had just moved to New Jersey with his family, and had stopped by East Harlem to say goodbye to friends and loved ones that day, NBC New York reported.

Police said Streeter and a 15-year-old boy had just left a deli on East 128th Street and were walking toward Park Avenue around 4:30 p.m. when an unknown male emerged on the corner and fired a volley of gunshots at them.

The teenagers ran toward the street to take cover, with Streeter falling between two parked cars. A passerby stopped the older boy after seeing he was in distress, and called 911, police said.

Officers responding to the scene found Streeter with a gunshot wound to the head. He was rushed to Harlem Hospital, but could not be saved.

The 15-year-old was shot in the leg and is expected to survive, according to police.

Authorities initially said the gunman fled on foot toward Madison Avenue after the shooting, but police were unable to track him further. Streeter and the 15-year-old had apparently been targeted by the assailant, NYPD chief of patrol Jeffrey Maddrey told reporters at the scene.
