Who's Harlem Supporting In The Race For Mayor?
Which candidates are raising the most money in Harlem, and which areas are giving the most? Patch followed the money to find out.

HARLEM, NY — Normally, Harlemites might find out who their neighbors are supporting for mayor by looking at polls, but for an election where polling is sparse, following the money can reveal which candidates are gaining steam in Harlem.
An interactive map by the city's Campaign Finance Board shows contributions for all of this year's races, including mayor, comptroller, city council and borough president.
With less than four weeks to go until the June 22 primaries, here's which candidates are leading in the neighborhood.

McGuire, Wiley lead in mayor's race
Ray McGuire, the former Wall Street executive, leads the money race in Harlem, as he did when Patch first looked at the data in February. McGuire, whose huge fundraising has been one of the race's big stories, has raised about $145,000 across Harlem's eight ZIP codes.
In a distant second is Maya Wiley, the civil rights lawyer and former counsel to Mayor Bill de Blasio, who has gotten nearly $60,000 in contributions from Harlem residents.

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, who was second in Harlem's money race back in February, has fallen to fifth place at about $40,400, trailing Comptroller Scott Stringer, who has raised about $43,100.
Andrew Yang, seen as the front-runner for much of the mayor's race, has raised $31,200 in Harlem — sixth among the eight leading candidates.
Total donations show a different picture
Breaking the data down by the total number of donations for each candidate can show pockets of grassroots support that were otherwise hidden.
By that metric, it is Wiley who jumps ahead — her 1,071 total donations from Harlem residents are the most of any candidate.
Behind her is Dianne Morales, the former nonprofit leader running as the race's most left-wing candidate. She has received 884 contributions from Harlemites.
McGuire, who leads the overall money race in Harlem, is just fifth when it comes to total donations (395), trailing Stringer (449) and Yang (444). Adams is sixth at 283, followed by former sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia at 250 and housing secretary Shaun Donovan, who has 186.
Which ZIPs are spending the most?
The Harlem ZIP code that's shelled out the most money for this year's elections is 10027, covering Central and West Harlem. Residents there have donated more than $233,000 combined.
East Harlem's 10035 ZIP code has the highest average donation, meanwhile, at $96. And the ZIP code with the most total donations is 10031, covering the Hamilton Heights area, which has recorded 2,969 contributions.
