Hutch Stop Leads To Crack, Coke And Meth, After State Police K9 Fortini Catches A Whiff: NYSP

HARRISON, NY — A K9 helped take a substantial stash of crack off the streets according to police.

On Tuesday, members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) stopped a car traveling northbound on the Hutchinson River Parkway in the Town of Harrison.

The driver was identified as Brent J. Perry, 45, of Dover, New Hampshire, and the passenger was identified as Amber L. Rondeau, 41, of Lebanon, Maine.

During the investigation, State Police K9 Fortini conducted an exterior scan of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics, according to NYSP. A subsequent probable cause search of the vehicle revealed approximately 491 grams of cocaine hydrochloride, approximately 97.4 grams of crack cocaine, glass smoking pipes containing burnt crack cocaine residue, and small quantities of amphetamine/dextroamphetamine and buprenorphine/naloxone pills, police said.

Perry and Rondeau were arrested and charged with a long list of offenses, including:

• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree, a class A-I felony
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree with Intent to Sell, a class B felony (2 counts)
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, a class B felony
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th Degree, a class C felony
• Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree, a class A misdemeanor (3 counts)

Perry and Rondeau were arraigned in the Town of Harrison and remanded to the Westchester County Jail.
