Cranberry Lake Preserve Volunteer Day Brings Fujifilm Workers, $7,500 Gift To Parks Foundation

WEST HARRISON, NY — As fall foliage slowing begins to reveal itself, a day at the park in Westcheser was picture perfect for another reason,

Westchester Parks Foundation hosted employees of Fujifilm Holdings America Corporation and FujiFilm FUJIFILM North America Corporation on Thursday at Cranberry Lake Preserve in West Harrison for a volunteer day tied to conservation and improvement projects across the park. The event also included a $7,500 donation to the foundation from the company and its employees.

Volunteers took part in several hands-on projects at the preserve. Those projects included checking on native tree plantings connected to the park's multi-year reforestation project, performing trail maintenance and removing invasive species. Volunteers also built new benches for the nature center's educational firepit area, adding seating for environmental education programs and activities.

The foundation said the work supports its ongoing efforts to preserve and enhance Westchester County's parks and open spaces. The projects were intended to help keep those spaces healthy, accessible and welcoming for future generations.

During the event, Kenya Nakashima, president of Fujifilm Holdings America Corporation, and Ryuichi (Richie) Matoba, CEO of Fujifilm, presented the donation to Westchester Parks Foundation. The money will support the foundation's mission to advocate for and invest in the preservation, conservation, use and enjoyment of the Westchester County Parks system.

"Fujifilm is proud of our longstanding support for open spaces, the environment, and the Westchester Parks Foundation," said Nakashima. "By giving back to the communities where we live, work and operate, we truly put the Fujifilm group purpose of 'giving our world more smiles' into action."

"Annual volunteer days are a meaningful tradition for our employees, giving us all the opportunity to work side-by-side in support of our community," said Matoba. "Since 1986, Westchester County has been home to our North America headquarters, and we're honored to partner with organizations that help create lasting benefits for our neighbors."

Fujifilm is celebrating 26 years of supporting Westchester Parks Foundation. The longstanding partnership focuses on preserving and enhancing Westchester County's parks and open spaces.
