Artist and High Point at Broadview Resident Honored by the Smithsonian for Nation's 250 Celebrations

Babette Katz's 1995 artist's book, My Flag, is being showcased as part of the Smithsonian's exhibit opening October 8.

PURCHASE, NY — High Point at Broadview is proud to announce that the work of one of its residents, renowned printmaker, and book artist Babette Katz has been selected to be featured in the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives. Katz’s celebrated 1995 artist's book, My Flag, is being showcased as part of the Smithsonian's landmark programming leading up to the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The artwork is a centerpiece of the upcoming Smithsonian exhibition, American Stories: Artists’ Books from Smithsonian Libraries and Archives, opening on October 8, 2026, at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

"We are absolutely thrilled to see Babette receive this extraordinary national recognition," said Rob D'Elia, Executive Director of High Point, an assisted living community within Broadview at Purchase College. "Her artistic vision and dedication to her craft continue to inspire our entire community. Having her work represent American storytelling on such a historic stage is a tremendous honor for both Babette and the vibrant creative culture we cultivate here at Broadview."
