Beating the Heat at Ron Belmont Pool
Residents have been flocking to the Ron Belmont Pool this week for a refreshing swim while temperatures continue to soar.
It can be so picturesque to see children splashing through water, smiling ear to ear and running around without a care in the world.
Luckily for the residents of Harrison, this has become a daily occurrence at the Ron Belmont Pool, now in its third summer of operation.
Young and old have taken to the cool water oasis, complete with three pools, water slide and snack bar. Pool Director Dotty Klein is in charge of making sure everyone’s visit is a positive one and says the pool has been busy since the day it opened.

“We definitely have a regular crowd on top of first timers to the pool,” said Klein. “Afternoons are our busiest time of the day, so if you are looking to beat the crowds, get here early.”
The pool is exclusively for Harrison residents, but other guests may enter with a Harrison resident. One interesting fact about the main pool is that it was built in the geographic shape of the town of Harrison.

Melissa Shaw came with her two boys Marcus and Edgar who were busy taking turns jumping off the diving boards. Shaw said that while she may not come every day, “we definitely take advantage of the pool on the really hot days like today!”
With temperatures in the low 90’s early this week, the pool has filled up fast throughout the day, but with a capacity of almost 500 guests, there is usually still room to swim laps and enjoy yourself.
Aside from the main pool, guests can enjoy two giant water slides, one enclosed and one open. A kiddie pool area is also available, complete with a water spraying palm tree.
James Battle, 12, came with a friend to the pool from Yorktown and said he was having a ball.
“I’m just glad I'm not in school, but this place is awesome,” he said.
