Camps, Concerts, Pool Rules: Harrison Mayor

plus the times and places for the next two "Lunch with the Mayor" events.

From Mayor Ron Belmont

Given the heat waves our region has experienced this summer, pool attendance is at an all time high. As you visit the Town facilities, please keep in mind that a pool pass is required for entry. Guests are
permitted but must be accompanied by a pass holder. Visiting grandchildren are considered guests. For information, regarding pool regulations and fees, please visit our website at harrison-ny.gov.

Passports have always been a required document for travel outside of the U.S. but now a U.S. passport may be required for destinations closer to home. Westchester County Clerk Tim Idoni’s Mobile Office will be at the West Harrison Village Green on Thursday, August 2nd from 5PM – 8PM, to assist residents in applying for a U.S. passport. For additional information, please contact the Westchester County Clerk’s Office at 995-3086 or visit their web site at www.westchesterclerk.com .

Harrison’s summer recreational activities are in full swing and, once again, have great participation rates. In addition to the summer camp, swim lessons and exercise programs, residents have been enjoying an array of offerings this season. I would like to thank Gerry Salvo and his department for providing high quality, safe and affordable programs for our entire community.

On a related note, the Harrison Recreation Department is currently taking applications for August camps and activities. Four programs, aimed at inspiring the next generation of engineers, will be offered next month: Jr. Aerospace Engineering Camp, Lego WeDo Robotics, Electric Game Design, and Amazing Race. Harrison Basketball Camp, for Grades 3-8, will also be offered. Please be aware that parents must have a current 2018 ID card to register children for all programs. For additional information, visit www.harrison-ny.gov .

Once again, I would like to remind you that, with summer upon us, door-to- door solicitors are visiting local municipalities in increased numbers. If you are not one of the 1,100 Harrison households that signed up for the Do-Not Knock Registry, you may visit the Town’s website at www.harrison-ny.gov to register online, or call the Town Clerk’s office at 914-670-3030 to request a form.

In closing, I’ve enjoyed seeing many of you at this year’s concerts. Please mark your calendar for the August summer concert series. Featured performers include The Surf Bombs, Prognosis, The Gene DiNapoli Show, Patrick Perone and the Blue Suede Rockers, FDR Drive and Alive N’ Kickin”. Check the town website at www.harrison-ny.gov or call the Department of Recreation hotline at 670-3039 for additional information. Thank you to all of our 2018 sponsors for supporting this highly entertaining and very popular community event.

The next “Lunch with the Mayor” is on Friday, July 20th and I will be at Delfino’s, located at 60 Halstead Avenue in Downtown Harrison. On Friday, July 27, I will be at Trattoria 632 located at 632 Anderson Hill Road in Purchase. I will be at these locations from 12:30 to 1:30 and look forward to meeting with residents and talking about issues facing our community.
