Huskies Beat Port Chester, Win League

The victory gave Harrison a share of the league title for the season. Raffael Macchia and Jack McCarthy each had three RBI, and Macchia and Steven De Leo each scored three times in the win. McCarthy, Tyler Hart and Alex Beckett each had three hits.

Port Chester’s Robert Rodriguez had two hits in the loss.

This Weekend’s Results:

Sport: Boys Lacrosse (Friday)

Game: Harrison vs. Ossining (First Round of Section I Playoffs)

Score: Harrison Won 10-6 and will advance to take on second-seeded John Jay on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

College Sports Notebook:

  • Hadley Duncan of Rye, a junior attack, is leading the Trinity College women’s lacrosse team with 60 points on 55 goals and five assists. The fifth-ranked Bantams (20-1) advanced to the NCAA Division III championship game against Salisbury following a 7-5 victory over second-ranked SUNY Cortland (20-2). Duncan is a graduate of Holy Child.
  • SUNY Cortland outscored Tufts University 8-1 over the final 26 minutes to overcome a 9-4 deficit and the nationally second-ranked Red Dragons defeated the fourth-ranked Jumbos, 12-10, in the NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse semifinals at the SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex. Cortland remained undefeated at 21-0 and faces top-ranked and unbeaten Salisbury University (22-0) in the national title game.  Junior midfielder Tom Casey of Yorktown has six points for Cortland in 18 appearances. Freshman midfielder Andrew Billups of New Rochelle has appeared in 16 games while sophomore defenseman Stephen Burke of Yorktown has seen action in three games.

This week the sports poll asks what you think of in major league baseball? Yankee fans may hate it right now after their team dropped two of three at home to the Reds, while the Mets lost two of three at Toronto. The Yankees and Mets will square off in their first Subway series on June 8 in the Bronx.
