Boys LAX Prepares for Playoff Push

The Top Spot:

The Harrison boys lacrosse team will begin postseason play on Friday with a first round matchup at Ossining.

The Huskies earned a number 10 seed in the Class B tournament with their regular season performance, according to brackets posted on MSG Varsity. A win and Harrison would next play on May 22.

Yorktown’s lacrosse team takes their usual spot a top Class B and they will not be in action till the quarterfinals on Tuesday. MSG Varsity’s power rankings currently has the Huskers ranked first.

The Broncos of Bronxville enter the playoffs as the top seed in Class C. At 14-1 MSG Varsity has Bronxville ranked fourth in the power rankings, the Broncos are the only Class C team ranked.

Lakeland/Panas is the one seed in the Class A bracket.

Girls Lacrosse Playoffs Set:

Section I recently announced the playoff pairings for the Class A, B and C girls lacrosse playoffs. MSG Varsity has the current schedule.

Perennial powerhouse Lakeland/Panas enters the Class A tournament undefeated and in the top sport for the tournament.

At 12-3, Fox Lane is currently ranked third in MSG Varsity’s power rankings and the Foxes enter the Class B tournament as the top ranked team.

Nyack enters the Class C tournament a top the rankings and the Indians are currently ranked eighth in the MSG Varsity’s power rankings.

College Sports Notebook

The Manhattanville golf team climbed up to 29^th in the National Rankings as they finished their run in the NCAA Division III Championships in Florida, but the accolades for the Valiants did not stop there.

Senior Mike Cresci and graduate student George Tischler were commended for their academic accomplishments by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday night. Both golfers were named Cleveland Gold/Srixon All-America Scholars at the Division III Awards Banquet earlier in the week.

Tischler was also named to the All-Region team.
