Danny Meyer to Speak at Manhattanville College’s Castle Conversations on Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Nationally known restaurateur Danny Meyer will talk about the new breed of American eatery

Purchase, NY, November 15, 2016 -- Nationally known restaurateur Danny Meyer, CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group, will speak on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 8 p.m. at Manhattanville College, capping off the College’s popular Castle Conversation series for this year.

Other speakers at the regional series of intellectual exploration, which provides opportunities to hear some of the most influential thought leaders of our time in Westchester and Fairfield County, this year have included David Brooks, Steve Wozniak, and Twyla Tharp.

With the opening of the Union Square Café in 1985, Danny Meyer pioneered a new breed of American eatery pairing imaginative food and wine with caring hospitality, comfortable surroundings, and outstanding value. Myer’s restaurants and chefs have won an unprecedented 28 James Beard Awards.

His hospitality group includes Gramercy Tavern, Blue Smoke, Jazz Standard, The Modern, Maialino, Untitled, North End Grill, Marta, Union Square Events, and Hospitality Quotient.

Meyer’s book, Setting the Table, published by HarperCollins, 2006, is a New York Times bestseller and examines the power of hospitality in restaurants, business, and life. He is an active national leader in the fight against hunger and serves on the board of Share Our Strength, an organization that strives to end child hunger in America.

What is Meyer’s approach to the restaurant business? He was recently quoted in a regional magazine as saying “Success is if somebody leaves the restaurant a little happier than when they came in.”
