Did You See the Meteor Last Night?

New York residents were among the hundreds from Ontario to Virginia who reported a fireball streak across the sky last evening.

The American Meteor Society has received 330 reports about a fireball centered over New York at around 6:40 p.m. Dec. 29.

New Yorkers who reported it were amazed.

“This was the cooles thing I’ve ever seen,” wrote one Levittown resident. ”I feel so lucky.”

A Piermont resident dismissed it at first: “Saw it out of my north-facing window, assumed it was just a firework,” but then had second thoughts and reported it to the AMS.

“It seemed very bright compared to anything else I have seen around here,” wrote a Bronxville resident.
