
A cold front swinging across the northeast United States will bring rain through Friday morning, with a few isolated thunderstorms possible.
But no worries -- that's just just the beginning of the three-day holiday weekend.
"Good news is the frontal passage will also set the stage for a gorgeous weekend with lots of sunshine and temps near 60," said Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather.

The National Weather Service prediction for Putnam County:
- Friday-Isolated thunderstorms. Showers...mainly in the morning. Highs in the mid 60s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent.
- Friday Night-Partly cloudy. A chance of rain showers in the evening. Much cooler with lows in the upper 20s. North winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 30 percent.
- Saturday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 50s. North winds around 5 mph...becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon.
- Saturday Night and Sunday-Partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 30s. Highs in the mid 50s.
- Sunday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening...then mostly cloudy with a chance of rain after midnight. Lows around 40. Chance of rain 40 percent.
