Fordham Westchester Launches Program of Workshops in Healthcare Management

Program Designed for Healthcare Middle Managers and Those Transitioning Into Healthcare from Other Industries

WEST HARRISON, NY (January 2015) -- Fordham University School of Professional and Continuing Studies has announced a new program of six workshops in Healthcare Management designed to provide the skill sets and background necessary to succeed in today’s growing healthcare industry.

The workshops, which will be offered at Fordham’s Westchester campus in West Harrison, will be held on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), six hours per day (9am-12pm/2pm -5pm) 12 hours per course. The courses are independent of each other and those completing all six will receive a certificate. The workshops are designed for current healthcare middle managers as well as those who have transitioned into healthcare from other industries. The cost is $500 per workshop.

The dates and course offerings are as follows:

March 21 & 22: Leadership and Critical Thinking in Healthcare covers critical areas of managing a healthcare organization including negotiation, organization management styles and methods and practical exercises with an executive management case study focus.

April 11 & 12: Healthcare Policy and Regulatory Issues examines past and current political, legal technological and economic healthcare policy developments. The phenomenon of the “medicalization” of society is explored.

April 25 & 26: Healthcare Information Systems, Data Security and Regulatory Issues provides an understanding of technology based methods used for vital functions in various aspects of the healthcare delivery system. Students gain a working knowledge of the cyberspace landscape and insight into emerging global and local cyber threats.

May 9 & 10: Navigating the Healthcare System: New Roles in Caregiving offers a comprehensive introduction to the nature of aging as a natural process versus a chronic disease. There will be demonstrations of new technologies that are changing the way home healthcare and other out-of-the-hospital care is being provided.,

May 30 & 31: Healthcare Marketing, Social Media and Ethics offers an introduction to the methods and strategies associated with healthcare marketing and patient information systems. The course examines the various strengths and weaknesses of platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

June 13 & 14: Data Analytics provides the student with an introductory capacity to identity and describe the structure and content of quantitative analytical methods. Data will be examined to both qualitatively and quantitatively determine patterns and methods.
