A free open house will be held Sunday, May 4, from 1 to 3 pm for South African artist Robin Rhode, who has been named recipient of the 2014 Roy R. Neuberger Exhibition Prize, a biannual prize, which celebrates an exceptional artist with an early-career survey and catalogue. The artist’s exhibition, Robin Rhode: Animating the Everyday, a ten-year survey of his digital videos (the first museum survey of his animations), will be presented at the Neuberger Museum of Art of Purchase College from May 4 through August 10, 2014. The 22 works in the exhibition will focus on the digital videos that Rhode identifies as “animations” and photographic series that correspond to or complement the time-based work.
On Wednesday, May 7, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm, exhibition co-curators Helaine Posner and Louise Yelin will offer a walk-through of the exhibition. Art-making, music, and refreshments are part of the deal. Free with Museum admission, and free for Purchase College students, faculty and staff
