Please take note of the following important notice from our Building Department: All outdoor residential swimming pools must conform to the International Property Maintenance Code for Enclosures (Section 303.2) regardless of the year the pool was built. Please view the link for additional information. The flyer, as well as the full section of the code, is on our website. If an Inspector sees a deficient pool barrier, the flyer will be left at the residence.

  • Test your smoke alarms monthly and change the batteries at least once a year;
  • If you hear a fire alarm or smell smoke, exit the building immediately and do not return to retrieve valuables;
  • If approaching a closed door, test the door before you open it as flames could be on the other side;
  • If a room is smoke-filled, crawl to safety on your hands and knees below the smoke-line;
  • If your clothes catch fire, stop, drop to the floor and roll;
  • Develop a family escape plan and review it twice a year making sure that windows and doors can easily be opened;
  • Choose a family meeting place that is safely away from your home.

The next “Lunch with the Mayor” is on Friday, October 19th and I will be at Delfino’s located at 60 Halstead Avenue in downtown Harrison. I will be at this location from 12:30 to 1:30 and look forward to meeting with residents and talking about issues facing our community.
