Harrison Elementary Students Pen Valentines for Veterans

Local elementary school students create Valentine's Day cards for local servicemen and women

Harrison Elementary School students from S.J. Preston and Parsons Memorial wrote special Valentine’s Day cards destined for veteran this season. Both schools through their Green Key Service Clubs have been involved in this initiative for a few years. Cards are distributed to active members, local Veterans Affairs Hospitals, and military retirement facilities in recognition of the men and women who serve or who have served their community and country.

At S.J. Preston, New York State Assemblyman David Buchwald was on hand alongside Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont and other notable service members to meet the students and collect the cards. At Parsons, the Green Key members encouraged students in every class in every grade to write a card and the school was able to collect over 500 cards this year. Assemblyman Buchwald met with the students on Friday to personally thank the students for their caring cards.
