Harrison High School Student, Baseball Player Andrew Gurgitano Dies

Gurgitano died of a rare spontaneous stroke, according to the Westchester County Medical Examiner's office.

Andrew Gurgitano, a popular 16-year-old junior and baseball player at Harrison High School, died at home over the weekend, and a page in his honor on the crowdfunding website GoFundMe has already generated more than $53,000.

“Andrew Gurgitano was a junior at Harrison High school. His tragic passing has impacted this community and has changed life as we know it forever,” organizers of the page wrote. The had hoped to raise $15,000 and so far have vastly exceeding that goal. “Please help this family to raise the money for this unexpected loss to cover his funeral arrangements and burial.”

The Journal News’ Randi Weiner writes that Gurgitano died of “rare spontaneous stroke,” based on information from the Westchester County Medical Examiner’s office.

Calling hours will be Wednesday at the Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home, and services will be held Thursday at St. Anthony of Padua in West Harrison, according to the GoFundMe page.
