The Harrison High School Business Club 22 students advance from the regional DECA competition and 38 advance through written works

Harrison High School had 35 students attend the Regional DECA competition held at Rockland Community College, and 22 advanced to the New York State competition.

There are also 38 students (listed below) who have already qualified for the New York State DECA competition to be held in Rochester, New York on March 6th - 8th. These students have written research papers, business plans, and conducted analysis on various business topics. They will be presenting and defending their papers to judges at the NYS competition in March.

This makes a grand total of 60 students that will have the opportunity to attend and compete at the State level of competition.

“The competition at Rockland Community College was definitely one of the highlights of my DECA Career at Harrison High School,” said DECA Club President Matthew Griff. “Having competed at four regional competitions, the results of this one were extremely impressive. Many of these students put countless hour in preparation and their success really paid off. I look forward to continuing preparing and working with these students in the next couple months for the state level competition and hopefully the international competition. Our students represented Harrison High School in an extremely professional matter at this competition.”

Of the 35 HHS students who attended, 22 received awards in the various business competitions. Many of the competitions require a written exam as well as a live action role-play. Those scores are compiled, and then the students who qualify in the top three of the Regional competition (best of Westchester, Rockland, Orange, & Ulster counties) are awarded the opportunity to move on to the New York State competition.
