HHS' Dr. Fred Pasqua Honored at Harrison Memorial Day Parade

The Harrison High School Marching Band marched in the annual Harrison Memorial Day Parade alongside the Westchester Brassmen, Veterans of Foreign Wars, local boys and girls scout troops, and local civic leaders to commemorate those who served and those who lost their lives in service to their country.

Mayor Ron Belmont recognized the men and women in attendance for their service, dedication and selflessness to their country.   “As long as I am here,” he said, “we will continue to honor our veterans.”

On this Memorial Day, Mayor Belmont also recognized Harrison High School’s own Dr. Ferdinand Pasqua for his 23 years of service to the school, children and community of Harrison.  He noted the commitment of Dr. Pasqua and the band to perform at Veterans and Memorial Day parades as well as the band’s recent trip to represent the State of New York at the Pearl Harbor Day parade in December.

Dr. Pasqua, who will be retiring at the end of this school year, recently received notification that he had been named one of the quarterfinalists for the Grammy Educator of the Year award.  A total of 217 music teachers from 195 cities from across 45 states have been announced as quarterfinalists for the Music Educator Award presented by the Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation.  In total, more than 30,000 nominations were submitted from all 50 states.

The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to a broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools.
