Harrison High School junior Rachel Stagg performed “God Bless America” at this year’s National Ethnic Coalition of Organizations’ (NECO) Ellis Island Medal of Honors ceremony earlier this month.
According to the organization’s website, the NECO’s Ellis Island Medal of Honors are presented annually to American citizens who have distinguished themselves within their own ethnic groups while exemplifying the values of the American way of life.
Stagg was personally invited to sing at this international event when an organizer of the event heard her perform at a studio recital in Manhattan.

Past medalists include six U.S. Presidents, one foreign President, Noble Prize winners, and leaders of industry, education, the arts, sports and government.
