HHS Senior Selected For Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra
Harrison High School senior Stephanie Tateiwa was selected for prestigious musical group

Congratulations to Harrison High School’s Stephanie Tateiwa who was accepted into the prestigious Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra. This year’s ensemble will be led by Ted Nash and Tatum Greenblatt.
The Jazz at Lincoln Center Youth Orchestra consists of 20 exceedingly talented and dedicated high school students in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, and CT) and is part of a larger program called the High School Jazz Academy. According to its website, the High School Jazz Academy offers instrumental jazz instruction to high school students, and students have the opportunity to enhance their musical education with the finest professional training and performance opportunities. The program runs weekly throughout May in the Irene Diamond Education Center at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.
During weekly sessions, students learn repertoire and performance techniques from a faculty comprised of accomplished jazz musicians as well as members of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and Artistic Director Wynton Marsalis. Concerts begin in January and run through May and will be performed at the Jazz at Lincoln Center venue and Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola.

Stephanie has also been selected to play Alto 2 saxophone in the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) All-National Honor Ensembles (ANHE) Jazz Ensemble, directed by Todd Stoll with special guest soloist Pharez Whitted, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida on November 25-28. The All-National Honor Ensembles represent the top performing high school musicians in the United States.
