HHS Sophomore Showcases Work at Bruce Museum in Connecticut

Harrison Central School District art students had unique opportunities to showcase their talents throughout the year at multiple venues.  Currently, Harrison High School sophomore Sakura Tateiwa has her piece entitled “Chrysler Blues” on display in the Bruce Museum’s annual exhibition iCreate.  Sakura’s etching representation of the New York City’s Chrysler building on a normal city night is among 40 pieces on display chosen from hundreds of submissions from the tri-state region.  The iCreate exhibit will be open through July 7th.

Sakura and junior Samantha Lisk both had artwork that was included in this year’s Congressional Art Competition.  Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. The winner’s artwork, if selected, will represent the House of Representatives 17th District of New York and will hang in the US Capitol for one year.
