Harrison High School students participate in New York State Theater Education Association workshops

Harrison High School students attended the annual New York State Theatre Education Association Conference in Callicoon, New York January 11-13. Students had the option to participate in numerous workshops throughout the weekend. A sample of the workshops included:

  • Technical Theatre and Design Workshop
  • Improvisation Workshop
  • Acting Techniques
  • Stage Management and Directing
  • Voice and Speech Workshop
  • Playwriting Workshop
  • Shakespeare and Historical Theatre Workshop
  • Dance Workshop
  • Theatre Business and Society
  • Audition Techniques

NYSTEA believes Theatre transforms lives, and all children should have access to theatre education. Towards these ends and over many years, NYSTEA has succeeded in requiring Theatre Teacher Certification, helped create the certification exams, compelled the addition of performance credits for graduation, and more.

NYSTEA continues to be the primary Theatre Education advocacy organization in New York State, working in alliance with other arts educations and helping to write the new State Education Standards for Theatre.
