Manhattanville College Welcomes Class of 2018
Members of the Class of 2018 moved into the Manhattanville College campus ready to start their first semester as Manhattanville Valiants.

Members of the Class of 2018 moved into the Manhattanville College campus ready to start their first semester as Manhattanville Valiants.

The Class of 2018 is largely made up of students from New York and other northeastern states like Connecticut and New Jersey. There is also a big population of international students, specifically from Canada, China, Georgia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Paraguay, Nepal, Sweden, and Vietnam.
“It’s really exciting to officially be a Manhattanville student,” said Cristina Commisso ’18. “It doesn’t feel real yet, but it’ll kick in eventually. Freshman year is like a new beginning.”

“It’s like a fresh start,” remarked Jennifer Machin ’18. Commisso and Machin met during Accepted Students Day and decided to room together after discovering they were both interested in Pre-Med.
When asked what they were planning on doing their freshman year, both Commisso and Machin expressed interest in extracurricular activities.
“I’m going to play ice hockey and maybe lacrosse,” said Machin.
“I just want to join a bunch of clubs,” said Commisso.
International students Fabian Andark ’18 and Thimmy Garbenius ’18, both from Sweden, also expressed interest in getting involved in campus activities, specifically ice hockey.
“Being part of the hockey team is pretty exciting,” remarked Garbenius, who is thinking about majoring in Biology.
“I’m really looking forward to the college experience and meeting a lot of new people,” said Andark, who is interested in Economics and Finance.
“I chose Manhattanville because it’s close to home and it has everything that I want,” Alex Pappalardo ’18, a commuter student who is interested in Education and Science and is part of Manhattanville’s volleyball team, expressed that at Manhattanville she gets the best of both worlds
Parents too were mesmerized by Manhattanville’s campus. “The campus is really beautiful, just magnificent,” said Karen Miller, whose son is part of the Class of 2018.
