Neil deGrasse Tyson to Speak at Manhattanville Forum Sept. 9

Castle Conversations is the college's popular speaker's forum.

Neil deGrasse Tyson, the eloquent and energetic astrophysicist, cosmologist and director of the Hayden Planetarium, will speak at Manhattanville College’s Castle Conversations, Sept. 9.

The speaker’s forum starts at 7 p.m. in Reid Castle on the College’s Purchase, NY campus.

The Harvard (B.A. Physics) and Columbia (Ph.D. Astrophysics) graduate and author of ten books is lauded nationally for his ability to excite the public about the wonders of science. He hosted the television show NOVA ScienceNow on PBS and the television series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey.

In his talk, Dr. Tyson promises to take the audience on a journey through space and time. His professional research interests are broad, and include star formation, exploding stars, dwarf galaxies, and the structure of our Milky Way.

Dr. Tyson, based at the Rose Center for Earth and Space in New York City, is the third speaker in the Castle Conversations forum, following packed houses that heard Arianna Huffington in March and Dan Rather in June. Doris Kerns Goodwin will cap off the 2015 season with a talk on Dec. 2.
