Neuberger Museum’s Benefête a Smashing Success!
The Neuberger Museum of Art celebrated Benefête 2016, the annual gala benefitting the museum's acclaimed education and exhibition programs.
On November 5, the Neuberger Museum of Art of Purchase College, SUNY, celebrated Benefête 2016, the museum’s annual gala benefitting the acclaimed education and exhibition programs at the museum. Close to 200 people attended the event, which featured a special performance by Tony Award-winning actress and singer Joanna Gleason, and an exclusive preview of "Pop! Prints from the Permanent Collection.”
Chaired by Ronni Rubin Bolger of Manhattan and Marilyn and Hugh Price of New Rochelle, Benefête 2016 also honored artist Deborah Kass (“Passionate Artist”). Kass is an American artist whose work explores the intersection of pop culture, art history, and the self. She works in mixed media, and is most recognized for her paintings, prints, photography, sculptures, and neon lighting installations. Kass's Day After Day, a site-specific, large-scale digital print commissioned by the Neuberger Museum, will be on view beginning October 20 at SPACE I 42, the Museum's new public space in Manhattan, located at 33 West 42nd St.
All proceeds support the Neuberger Museum of Art, which opened in 1974, a teaching and learning museum for the twenty-first century that nurtures and supports the needs and aspirations of current and future generations. Its permanent collection contains more than 7,000 works of African, Latin American, modern and contemporary art.
