Northwell Signs Joint Venture with Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester

The Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester has 34 surgeons and cares for nearly 3,500 patients annually.

Northwell Health has signed a partnership agreement with Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester, a freestanding, multi-disciplinary, outpatient practice based at 440 Mamaroneck Avenue, in Harrison. Northwell will acquire a 20 percent initial position in the center under an ownership agreement with the eight-physician owners. The agreement, which is pending state regulatory approval, will allow Northwell rights to attain up to 51 percent of the center within five years.

The Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester specializes in cosmetic surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, ophthalmologic, oculoplastic surgery, hand surgery, gynecology, ear nose and throat surgery and oral surgery. Its 34 surgeons are credentialed to perform surgery at the center, which cares for nearly 3,500 patients annually. The 10,891-square-foot facility has four operating rooms, five pre-operative stations and six post-anesthesia care unit beds.

“We’re excited to partner with an excellent group of surgeons at Surgical Specialty Center of Westchester,” said David Battinelli, MD, senior vice president and chief medical officer at Northwell Health. “This joint venture is another clear example of how we’re partnering with a group of well-established, high quality physicians.
