Purchase Elementary School Hosts Annual Wax Museum

Harrison Third Graders Research and Embody Historical Figures

The Purchase Elementary School hosted its annual Wax Museum event before the spring recess. Inspired by Madame Trousseau’s Wax Museum, students are encouraged to select a famous historical figure and research the life and experiences that helped shaped their path to notoriety. Students then stand like a “Wax Figure” in full costume and provide interesting information to guests who push their button to talk. The event helps to develop age appropriate analytical, writing and public speaking skills for third grade students.

This year as a way to integrate technology into the presentations, students wore QR codes (or bar codes) that could be scanned with a smart phone for readers to learn more about a student’s historical figure.
