· Hydration tactics – Drinking water throughout the day is essential for your body. Water is best but fluid needs can be met by drinking milk, tea, coffee, and even eating fruits and veggies.
· Refuel within 30 minutes after your workout – It’s a critical time to refuel and get your muscles ready to go again the next time. Aim to have a combination of protein and carbohydrate such as almonds and a banana, cottage cheese on a rice cake, or a Greek yogurt with berries.
Elyssa Hurlbut also answered common questions about the potential risks of artificial sweeteners like Splenda and Equal, good carbs vs. bad carbs, almond milk vs. regular milk and much more.
