Variety Of Illegal Items Leads To Arrests In Harrison

Two people were stopped for speeding on I-287 and this is what they got.

HARRISON, NY – Speeding on I-287 led to the arrest of two New York City residents in a car carrying a variety of illegal substances.

At 7:27 p.m. Monday, State Police stopped a vehicle on I-287 for a speeding violation. Police said that while interviewing the driver, the trooper was able to establish probable cause and search the vehicle and its occupants. That produced a phony $100 bill, a bunch of illegal fireworks, plus small amounts of marijuana and cocaine (2.9 grams of cocaine and 0.08 ounces of marijuana).

The driver, Jamar B. Johnson, 29, and his passenger, Arnisha M. Chery, 21, were taken into custody, transported, and processed at SP Tarrytown.

They face charges of:

  • Forgery in the 1st Degree; a Class C Felony. (Johnson and Chery)
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree; a Class D Felony (Johnson and Chery)
  • Unlawful Possession of Marijuana; a Violation (Johnson and Chery)
  • Unlawful Possession of Illegal Fireworks; a Violation (Johnson and Chery)
  • Obstruction of Governmental Administration 2nd Degree; a Class A Misdemeanor. (Chery Only)
  • False Personation; a Class B Misdemeanor. (Johnson Only)
  • Vehicle and Traffic Violations (Johnson Only)


Both were arraigned in the Town of Harrison Court on July 25. No bail information is available at this time.
