You Choose: Male Athlete of the Year
A list of our five best male athletes from Harrison High School this year. You choose the athlete of the year.

Last week the Harrison High School athletic department held their annual awards banquet. Several student athletes received a plethora of awards to credit them for their hard work and effort of the past season and for their careers.
After speaking to several coaches and athletes we have nominated the athletes below as our five best senior male athletes. Vote here to choose the Harrison Patch athlete male of the year, we will have results next week.
Paul Buonocore

Buonocore was a three-sport athlete for Harrison, playing both indoor and outdoor track as well as soccer. In each season, Buonocore received the honors of all-league, scholar athlete and was given each team's coaches award. He was also all-section in both track seasons and all-county in the winter. Buonocore also won this year's Sean Sheehan Scholarship at the senior awards banquet.
Mike DeLacy

DeLacy was the leader of the school's baseball team on defense and the catalyst of the offensive lineup. He was the team's captain and in his 24 games played he hit a stellar .431. DeLacy won the league's most valuable player award as well as being named to the all-league and all-section teams. At the end of the year, DeLacy was the starting third basemen in section's senior all-star game. He also won this year's Abbot W. Morris Sheehan Scholarship at the senior awards banquette.
Bryan Merlos
Merlos had one of the more impressive soccer careers in recent Harrison history. In eighteen games, Merlos scored thirteen goals to lead the Huskies in scoring. Merlos was named to the all-section and all-league teams and in his senior year and was also a scholar athlete.
Andrew Planamento
Though he was small in stature, Planamento was one of the best wrestlers Harrison has ever seen. In his senior year he was named one of the team's captains and proved to be a good example for the younger athletes throughout the season. He was named to the all-league and all-section teams, and at the end of the year Planamento was given the team's coaches award. He also won this year's Dean Marantis Scholarship at the senior awards banquette.
Dennis Rinaldi
Rinaldi was the captain of both Harrison's basketball and football teams. During football season he was one of the Huskies best players, playing both ways as a tight end and defensive end. Rinaldi was also named to the all-league team. At this year's Rye game Dennis received the Mello award and he was called "The best Harrison has to offer". During basketball season Rinaldi led the team in both points and rebounds. He was also named to the all-league and all-section teams and was named the team's most valuable player.
