2 Men Use Counterfeit Money In Hauppauge: Police

The men used the counterfeit bills to buy a gift card, police say.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is seeking the public's help in finding the two men who police said used counterfeit money to make a purchase in Hauppauge.

Two men used five counterfeit $20 bills to purchase a gift card and gas at Speedway, at 522 Nesconset Highway, around 8 p.m. Nov. 13, police said. They are wanted for criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Police ask anyone with information to reach Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and leave an anonymous tip via phone call at 1-800-220-TIPS, using a mobile app which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com. A cash reward is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
