HAUPPAUGE, NY — A series of disturbing animal cruelty incidents in Hauppauge has prompted an investigation and a reward offer, according to the Suffolk County SPCA.
SPCA officials said multiple geese were intentionally struck by a vehicle during nighttime hours along Wireless Boulevard, with incidents typically occurring between about 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The first reported case happened on April 4 at around 10 p.m. in front of 375 Wireless Boulevard, officials said.
Video footage captured on April 15 at around 9:50 p.m. shows a white Jeep Grand Cherokee deliberately hitting several geese in the same area, according to investigators. On that same night, two additional geese were struck near 100 Wireless Boulevard.
Authorities said the suspect vehicle is believed to be a late-model white Jeep Grand Cherokee. Investigators noted the driver appears to return to the area and slow down when spotting geese, behavior they said suggests the acts were intentional and repeated.
A reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Suffolk County SPCA at 631-382-7722. Calls will be kept confidential.
