HAUPPAUGE, NY — BODYBAR Pilates is expanding on Long Island with a new Hauppauge studio expected to open in September.
The reformer-based Pilates franchise plans to open its second Long Island location on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 381C Nesconset Highway in the Hauppauge Shopping Center, pending construction timelines, the company announced.
The 3,200-square-foot studio will feature 14 reformers, a private room for one-on-one training, ADA-accessible bathrooms and a boutique selling activewear and accessories.
The Hauppauge location is owned and operated by local business owner and fitness enthusiast Mady Pisano, who also owns RelyRx Pharmacy & Medical Supplies in St. James.
Pisano immigrated to the United States from Turkey in 2003 as a single mother with her young daughter. Her daughter later graduated from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, according to the company.
Pisano said she became interested in BODYBAR after learning about the franchise through friends and watching interviews with company founders Matt and Kamille McCollum.
"I'm thrilled to continue BODYBAR's expansion on Long Island," Pisano said. "What I love most about BODYBAR is the diversity of our class formats. We're not your traditional Pilates studio. Nothing here is cookie cutter, and members will experience something new and fresh every day."
Pisano will oversee front-of-house operations and marketing and serve as the studio's head instructor, while her husband, Michael, will handle operations and IT. She will continue running her pharmacy while operating the studio.
Pisano, who is active in the St. James and Greater Smithtown chambers of commerce, has signed an agreement to develop two BODYBAR locations. She plans to open another studio on Long Island in 2027 and hopes to eventually add four more locations, according to the company.
The Hauppauge studio will offer BODYBAR's athletic Pilates classes, which combine reformer-based exercises with workouts focused on strength, balance and mobility.
"Long Island consistently ranks among the healthiest regions in New York, and with Suffolk County known for its great communities, we knew it was a great place to expand in," said Kamille McCollum, BODYBAR's chief brand officer, president and co-founder. "Not only is there a desire for group fitness and community-based classes here, but residents really value their health and wellness."
Ahead of the opening, the Hauppauge studio is hosting several free mat Pilates classes at The Stone Goat Restaurant & Brewery. The "Pilates & Spritz" events are scheduled for Aug. 23 and 30 and Sept. 6 and 13 at 9:30 a.m.
BODYBAR said founding memberships are also being offered ahead of the opening, with discounts of up to 15 percent along with priority booking and a complimentary class.
The company currently has 89 studios nationwide and more than 21,000 members, with another 30 locations expected to open this year.
