📰 News we're reading

• LI high school sports roundup: Volleyball and soccer scores (newsday.com) — Hauppauge boys soccer fell 2–1 to Smithtown West in a key Suffolk IV matchup, despite a goal from Eli Flaiz and nine saves by keeper Nico Mieles. The close loss drops Hauppauge to 8–3 but keeps them firmly in the playoff hunt as league standings tighten across Long Island.

• Giunta's Meat Farms Completes Purchase of King Kullen (southshorepress.com) — A major ownership change is coming for Hauppauge's own King Kullen, as Giunta's Meat Farms has completed its purchase of the longtime supermarket chain while pledging no store closures or layoffs. All union contracts and pharmacy departments will remain, but the companies haven't yet said what will happen to King Kullen's Hauppauge headquarters or which locations might be rebranded.

• Lior Ground Cinnamon Sold in Six States Recalled After Maryland Health Lab Finds Elevated Lead (foodworldnews.com) — A Hauppauge-based importer is recalling one lot of Lior ground cinnamon after testing found elevated lead levels, and jars were sold in New York and five other states. Local shoppers should check for UPC 794711005484 and lot code GAP11304, discard or return any matching jar, and talk with a health-care provider about blood lead testing if young children ate it regularly.
