CHILD CARE COUNCIL OF SUFFOLK CELEBRATES 30 YEARS OF PROMOTING SAFE, AFFORDABLE, HIGH-QUALITY CHILD CARE
The Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. (CCCS) recently held its Champions of Children 30th Anniversary Luncheon at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York. The event honored two Long Island champions: Dr. Frances L. Brisbane, dean and professor of the School of Social Welfare at Stony Brook University, and Patrick C. McCarthy, partner at the law firm of McCarthy & Carbone, P.C., and president of the Michael W. McCarthy Foundation. “We are grateful to all our Champions of Children guests. Your participation here today helps support our vital programs and services for children, child care providers and the community,” stated Janet Walerstein, CCCS executive director. “We are particularly pleased to celebrate our 30th anniversary this year. Since 1985, we have honored our commitment to advocate for safe, affordable, high-quality child care services for the working families of Long Island.”
“Since its inception, the Child Care Council of Suffolk has proven to be a vital part of the community by focusing on the welfare of children. Children are the future leaders of society, and the Council’s effort to ensure their success from an early age is valuable,” stated United States Senator Charles E. Schumer in his Proclamation to CCCS. “The Council’s multifaceted approach through advocacy, education programs, counseling services, and operating child care centers strengthens and creates solidarity within the community. I applaud your dedication to the social needs of our community.”
The Senator’s Proclamation also recognized the outstanding efforts of Patrick McCarthy and Dr. Frances Brisbane: “The Michael McCarthy Foundation’s commitment to furthering health, education and literacy are remarkable. I applaud Patrick McCarthy’s hard work and achievements. Likewise, Dr. Brisbane’s leadership impacts countless lives. Her contributions to society are extensive on a local and national level. She is truly an inspiration.”
