DA: Hauppauge CEO Diverted $300K from Employees' 401Ks

Om Soni, chief executive officer of bankrupt Sonix Medical Records, pleads not guilty to grand larceny.

A Hauppauge CEO of a bankrupt medical imaging and record company pleaded not guilty to allegedly stealing $300,000 from his employees' 401K funds. 

Om Soni, 67, of Oyster Bay, chief executive officer of Hauppauge-based Sonix Medical Records, pleaded not guilty to felony charges of second-degree grand larceny and first-degree scheme to defraud in Riverhead courts.  

Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said his office, in joint investigation with the U.S. Department of Labor, found that Soni used roughly $300,000 owed to his employees 401K funds to "pay for his Bentley, Lamborghini, Porsche, an Oyster Bay mansion and to fund other executive salaries."

Soni allegedly stole the money from Sonix Medical Records from 2007 to 2009. 

Sonix Medical Records, a diagnostic imaging and medical billing business, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009. The company was then purchased by Radnet in April 2010 for $2.25 million, according to Diagnostic Imaging.

Soni has been released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear next in court on April 11.
