Hauppauge HS Students Receive National Merit Scholarship Commendation

Six Hauppauge High School students were named Commended Students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Six Hauppauge High School students were Commended Students in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program, the Hauppauge School District announced.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise, according to the school district. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2024 competition by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

A letter of commendation from Hauppauge High School and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation was presented by Principal Joseph Wieckhorst to these scholastically talented students.

"Congratulations to Jamie Barshay, Mihika Grandhi, Israel Rojas, Sri Sagiraju, Sadiq Shaik and Elliot Tafla on this fantastic academic accomplishment," the district wrote.
