Hauppauge Students Hold Holiday Breakfast Fundraiser For Families
The leadership students raised nearly $2,900 for families in need through a breakfast and MacBook Air raffle.
HAUPPAUGE, NY — Students in Hauppauge High School’s leadership class hosted their second annual holiday breakfast fundraiser, raising a total of $2,893 for families in need, the school district announced.
The breakfast raises money for the school-wide initiative, Care and Share’s Friends of Families holiday campaign, helping families with food and gifts for the holidays. This year, the breakfast raised $1,105. Additionally, the class ran a MacBook Air raffle, raising an additional $1,788 for Friends of Families.
In the class, students learn skills such as goal setting, communication and organization along with other skills it takes to be a good leader in both their school and community. The course is based on the belief that good leaders are developed, not born. The class culminates with students implementing their own personal service project.
