Letitia James Eyes Steve Bellone As Gubernatorial Running Mate: Report
Suffolk Executive Steve Bellone is "leading the pack" as a running mate in the attorney general's run for governor, according to the report.

ALBANY, NY — Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone is "leading the pack" of potential running mates for state Attorney General Letitia James in the 2022 New York governor race, the New York Post reported. Bellone privately met James's advisors in San Juan, Puerto Rico, during a political conference in early November, as James is vetting candidates to run with, a source told The Post.
Bellone has expressed his own interest in running for governor.
Bellone, a Democrat who was re-elected to a third four-year term in 2019, will have reached his executive term limit at the start of 2023 according to Suffolk County rule. Bellone assumed the office of Suffolk County executive on Jan. 1, 2012, after winning in the 2011 election.
