WHO: In a creative partnership to benefit families looking for their first home at an affordable price, Suffolk County, the Town of Islip and the Long Island Housing Partnership (LIHP) collaborated to bring new homes to the Brentwood community. Suffolk County provided the property for the affordable homes through a process whereby they donated land that had been taken for back taxes. The Town of Islip provided financing through Federal Home Loan funding and the Long Island Housing Partnership coordinated the process.

WHAT: The homes are affordable to applicants earning 80% of the area median income for a family of four. The LIHP will conduct the lottery for the new homes which will be constructed by local developer JJR Associates, at Islip Town Hall. According to LIHP President Peter Elkowitz, “There is nothing more heartwarming than seeing a family move into their first home. These particular homes are made even more poignant as it was a wonderful partnership between LIHP, Suffolk County and the Town of Islip that made them possible.”
