Man Charged In 14 Storage Facility Burglaries: Suffolk Police

The man was accused of breaking into storage facilities in the Smithtown and Islip townships and stealing items, police say.

ISLANDIA, NY — An Islandia man was arrested Saturday after he burglarized four businesses 14 times over the past 11 months, Suffolk police said.

Christopher Lacker, 42, broke into storage facilities within the towns of Smithtown and Islip between Dec. 7, 2022, and Nov. 9, police said. During each burglary, Lacker entered storage
facilities, cut locks from individual storage units, and stole items, police said.

Lacker was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at his home after police said he burglarized the following storage facilities:

  • Public Storage, at 770 Nesconset Highway, Nesconset, on Dec. 7, 2022.
  • Extra Space Storage, at 3016 Express Drive, Islandia, on Feb. 24 and 28, Sept. 29, Oct. 3, 4, 13 and 14, Nov. 8 and 9.
  • Extra Space Storage, at 1590 Lakeland Ave., Bohemia, on Sept. 27.
  • Public Storage, at 745 Calebs Path, Hauppauge, on Oct. 16.

Lacker was charged with 14 counts of third-degree burglary and one count of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip this past Sunday.
