Man Fired Shots During Argument At Hauppauge Middle School: SCPD

The man, who was arguing with his girlfriend, fired the shots late Thursday night, including one towards a security guard, police say.

HAUPPAUGE, NY — A man is accused of firing shots during an argument with his girlfriend on the grounds of Hauppauge Middle School late Thursday night, Suffolk police said.

The man, 27, of Hauppauge, fired a shot from a handgun at 11:45 p.m. at 600 Townline Road, police said. A security guard at the school heard the shot, and the man fired another shot towards the guard, police said. Police did not name the man with the gun.

Nobody was hit by the shots, police said.

The man was found a short distance away by Fourth Precinct officers, police said. He was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

The man was brought to a local hospital for evaluation, police said.
