Man Shot Dead Inside Long Island Deli

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY – A 29-year-old man was fatally shot inside a Long Island deli Monday morning, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, Esteban Alvarado-Bonilla, of Brentwood, was inside El Campesino, located at 133 Calebs Path, when he was shot at about 10:30 a.m. Alvarado-Bonilla was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. A female employee was believed to be accidentally shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Detectives believe the man was targeted and the shooting is gang-related. The investigation is ongoing.
