New Video Lottery Casino Opens In Islandia
BREAKING: Jake's 58 Hotel and Casino opened its doors Monday afternoon.

ISLANDIA, NY - Jake's 58 Hotel and Casino opened up in Islandia Monday.
The facility, owned by Delaware North, opened its doors at 3635 Express Drive North at the former site of a Marriott hotel at 1 p.m.
According to the casino's website, the casino features 265 video lottery terminal gaming machines.

Jake's 58 plans to grow to a total of 1,000 machines by this summer.
In addition, the hotel features 227 rooms, high-speed internet access and a fitness center.

The casino's opening has not come without controversy. Many local residents have expressed concerns that the casino could create burdensome traffic, hurt property values and increase crime.
