HAUPPAUGE, NY — New York State Sen. Monica Martinez visited the Hauppauge School District, stopping in Amy Thompson’s sixth grade coding class at Hauppauge Middle School to meet with students, the school district announced.
Martinez first met with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Donald Murphy and members of cabinet at the district office to discuss the New York State budget. Murphy shared the district’s priorities and points of pride.
Martinez and Murphy then traveled to the middle school to see Thompson’s brand-new coding classroom. The room was recently redesigned in a stadium seating format, mimicking a college setting. The sixth graders proudly shared their coding projects with the senator as Thompson displayed the various classroom technologies she uses each day in instruction.
