Old Navy Constructing a New Lake Grove Store

Old Navy has started constructing a new Lake Grove storefront along Route 347.

Multiple sources confirmed that the clothing retailer will be moving into a new storefront in the former Toys "R" Us storefront in the Smith Haven Mall Plaza. The front of the building has been demolished, revealing a stripped interior with new steel beams to enlarge the outer frame of the building.

The new store will be adjacent to new Lake Grove Location at 2085 Smith Haven Plaza that opened in December 2010. The space has been vacant since Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us relocated to the DSW Shopping Plaza.

Nearby business owners and store managers said they are excited to see the chain retailer moving in, hoping it would bring more shoppers into the plaza.

Old Navy representatives did not respond immediately to calls for comment. The clothing retailer opened or redesigned eight stores in the last two weeks of April, according to its website, from Arizona to Ontario, Canada. The nearest existing store to its new location is in Selden's Independence Plaza.
